The Music

It's all about the music. Play/Pause is a night dominated by classic indie rock'n'roll, with a smattering of indie dance, and a handful of recent tracks thrown into the mix.

From the geeky early 90s indie of Carter, PWEI and Orbital, through to the pre-britpop of Ash, James and Suede, via the Madchester classics of the Roses, the Mondays and the Carpets.

You'd expect the rocky shouting anthems of Nirvana, Rage, and Green Day, but you'd be equally disappointed if you didn't hear the chunky dancefloor classic by the Prodigy, the Chemical Brothers and Fat Boy Slim.

There'll be bagloads of britpop; not just Blur, Oasis and Pulp but the stuff that was further down the charts of 95 and 96, like Shed Seven, Sleeper, Elastic and Kula Shaker. And hopefully you'll hear a few things you haven't heard in years, the kookier hits from the likes of Lush, My Life Story, Space and the Divine Comedy.

But it won't just be living in the past - whatever's big at the time also gets played, you can't ignore the likes of Hard-Fi, Killers, The Strokes, Kaiser Chiefs, The Editors, The Thrils and all the other Xfm-style classics.

We'll open the first few hours of the night up to you - bring your CDs, records or iPod playlists, and contribute your favourite tunes.
